Recently, AusDoc asked its readers: “Are there any past patients you haven’t forgotten?”

For me there are many, but for privacy reasons there are only a few I can share. I am still in contact with most of the memorable survivors from my ICU.

One is Paul, who in 1998 was an active 28-year-old with two small children who ended up in our emergency unit in cardiac arrest. 

After an hour of CPR, the cardiologist and I went to the waiting room to tell his wife our efforts had been unsuccessful.
