The medical ‘expert’ who hung a GP out to dry and other cautionary tales

Bill Madden’s recent AusDoc article about the use of expert medical opinion is spot on.
Bill is one of the best plaintiff lawyers in Australia.
In the 1990s, when I was involved in managing numerous litigated claims, very few actually went to trial.
Many claims were resolved either by discussion between the parties or formal mediation, and only went to trial if there were legitimate factual issues in dispute that required a judge (or, rarely, a jury) to weigh up the evidence as presented and the expert opinions tendered to the court.
