It seems to be a human trait to suffer from cognitive dissonance.
This phenomenon can be described as the discomfort that results from simultaneously holding two opposing views, attitudes or beliefs.
With this model in mind, I’ve been thinking about the paradox of striving for scientific advancement while being suspicious of change.
For generations, humans have tended to see their own time as the peak of human existence, while seeing their parents as old-fashioned and their children as lazy.Â
