There’s a little bit of Professor John Murtagh in every GP

The recent passing of Professor John Murtagh, and the accompanying outpouring of accolades to him, has made me reflect on the special role of the GP as an educator.

As doctors, we respect our teachers, and Professor Murtagh reached the heights in that profession.

And as GPs, we are also educators — all day and every day.

Primary to our role as medical practitioners is the ability to share our knowledge of health with our patients.
