Why are senior doctors being thrown on the scrapheap?
There is an urgent need for a 'step-down' category when it comes to medical registration
Each year in Australia some 1,850 doctors retire their medical registration.
Many do so not because they want to cease practice, or because they have lost the desire to care for their patients, or contribute to their communities – they do so unwillingly because of AHPRA.
