Why do they make diabetes drug names so hard to remember?

Once upon a time, learning new things was as easy as ABC

I think I’m not the only GP to struggle with getting my mind around the endless new classes of diabetes medications. I hope I’m not.

GLP-1-RAs, SGLT-2s, DPP4s ... something, something 5s.

There are so many of them. They all have complex acronyms.

Just when insulin therapy got simpler, oral hypoglycaemics and the non-insulin injectables got more numerous, and more complicated.
