Last year the annual scientific meeting of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) gathered in Sydney.

One of the headline topics was menopause.

Not the debates about the latest techniques in sedation or ICU care you would probably expect of the specialty.

Instead, this was a discussion about the impact of menopause — not on patients, but on college members, given that 36% of its fellows aged 45-54 are women.
