Are bidets hygienic?

Ah, the age-old hygiene question, revived recently by the growing Western fascination with bidets due to environmental awareness and a pandemic-inspired obsession with cleanliness.

This debate has been circling the bowl for years, with many studies arguing that bidet use is superior due to its dermatological and anorectal protectiveness, potentially cleaner hand hygiene, and reduced bacterial residue.
