‘You’ll be fine, you have good childbearing hips’: Doctors’ personal beliefs are still a big issue in abortion care  Â

RANZCOG recently released Australia-first guidelines on abortion care.
They are a fabulous read — presenting the evidence that medical abortion up to 10 weeks (not the nine weeks restriction the PBS imposes) is safe and effective.
The guidelines also confirm that telehealth is an excellent way to improve access for regional and remote women.
They contain modern statements about choice — including that the choice of having an abortion by medical versus surgical means should be a joint decision between a woman and her doctor, as opposed to being the postcode lottery that it so often is.
