Review: Technology - The StethoCloud

When the stethoscope is connected to a Windows 7 smartphone, a doctor, nurse or even unskilled assistant can transmit diagnostic information, such as a patient’s breathing patterns, into the cloud service using Windows Azure, where it is then analysed for signs of early pneumonia.

This relatively simple and inexpensive diagnostic tool has the potential to make early detection and treatment available in the developing world, where pneumonia kills 1.4 million children younger than five years every year.
