Another tick for sirolimus in children with lymphatic malformations

Small French trial suggests effects may differ for venous and lymphatic malformations

In children over age six with pure lymphatic malformations, sirolimus decreases oozing, bleeding, and malformation volume, while increasing quality of life, a small study suggests.

In contrast, there was no statistically significant reduction in volume of either pure venous malformations or combined malformations, the French researchers say.

Dr Annabel Maruani of the University of Tours and colleagues studied 59 children (mean age 12 years; 59% girls) with a complicated slow-flow vascular malformation
