Dermatologists celebrate First Nations graduates

The four doctors received their graduation certificates from Australia's first Aboriginal surgeon

Four Aboriginal dermatologists have celebrated their graduation at a historic ceremony of the Australasian College of Dermatologists this week.

The four graduates came together at a ceremony in Adelaide, the highest number of First Nations graduates from any medical specialty to confer together, the college said.

The specialists — Dr Dana Slape, Dr Artiene Tatian, Dr Tom Barrett and Dr Crystal Williams — have already made their mark, college president Dr Clare Tait said.

Their achievements include establishing a First Nations tele-dermatology service in Victoria, a new community-based hospital dermatology service in greater Darwin, and providing outreach services in the NT, she said.
