Dr Arlene Taylor has had a troubled life: a doctor diagnosed with autism, she has experienced suicidal thoughts since childhood and, as an adult, has made numerous suicide attempts, been detained under the mental health act and been brought into EDs by police concerned for her welfare.

Next month, she appears before the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal to decide whether she is fit to treat patients.
