Extra antenatal monitoring ‘not warranted’ in pregnant women with endometriosis

Pregnant women with endometriosis can be reassured they are not at higher risk of preterm birth and do not need additional antenatal care, a new study suggests.
UK doctors found that the median gestation at delivery was 39+1 weeks in women with pelvic endometriosis compared with 39+4 weeks among women without the condition.
Although more women with endometriosis gave birth before 37 weeks, this between-group difference was not statistically significant, say researchers from the early pregnancy unit at the University College Hospital in London.
“There is no evidence to warrant increased antenatal monitoring of pregnant women with endometriosis,” they concluded in Fertility and Sterility.
