AusDoc brings you the latest news from the American College of Rheumatology virtual congress 2020.
A global survey of children with a rheumatic disease shows only about 1% have caught COVID-19 during the pandemic and none was seriously ill, despite many being on immunosuppressive drugs, conference delegates have heard.
US researchers led the study analysing data for 427 children younger than 18 years, reported in the international COVID-19 Global Rheumatology Alliance patient experience survey.
Surveys were distributed to parents of children with rheumatic disease through patient support organisations and social media, collecting data on rheumatic disease activity, medications and experience with COVID-19 between 3 April and 8 May.
