The international rheumatology community has created the COVID-19 Global Rheumatology Alliance to collect data on how the virus affects patients with rheumatological diseases.

Through its website, the Alliance has online portals and case report forms to allow healthcare providers to enter information on individuals with rheumatological disease who have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Details on the first 110 cases (72% female) entered into the registry are reported in the Lancet Rheumatology.

Most patients had rheumatoid arthritis (36%) followed by psoriatic arthritis (17%), systemic lupus erythematosus (17%), axial spondyloarthritis (6%), vasculitis (6%), Sjogren’s syndrome (5%) and ‘other’ (15%).
