Inflammatory bowel disease is strongly associated with gout, with a higher correlation observed with Crohn’s disease, according to a study in JGH Open.

Dr Osama Hamid, from the Cleveland Clinic in the US, and colleagues investigated the association between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and gout using data from adults diagnosed with Crohn’s disease (249,480 patients) and ulcerative colitis (209,020 patients) between 1999 and 2022.
