Major European review fails to find a ‘best’ way to prevent psychosis

No particular intervention for patients at high risk of psychosis has been demonstrated to be superior to others in prevention or improving prognosis, an umbrella review finds.
There were 42 meta-analyses of studies of people at clinical high risk of psychosis included in the review, carried out by members of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology Network on the Prevention of Mental Disorders and Mental Health Promotion.
Eight of the meta-analyses examined interventions, either to prevent transition to psychosis, or to treat current symptoms.
None showed better performance of the intervention than a control intervention.
