Pre-eclampsia tied to early-onset dementia risk

The risk was higher for women with pre-eclampsia before 34 weeks' gestation or superimposed on chronic hypertension, researchers say.

Individuals with pre-eclampsia have an increased risk for early-onset dementia, according to a research letter published in JAMA Network Open.

Dr Valérie Olié (PhD), from Santé Publique in Saint-Maurice, France, and colleagues obtained data from the nationwide prospective Conception study, which included all deliveries in France after 22 weeks of gestation between 2010 and 2018.
