Dozens of leading specialists and medical researchers have been recognised in the Australia Day Honours list, including a Sydney dermatologist and a reproductive medicine specialist in Perth.

Other specialists recognised in the 2022 honours list include practitioners in neurology, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, cardiology and oncology (see table below).

Clinical Associate Professor Saxon Smith, from the University of Sydney, was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for “significant service to medicine as a dermatologist and researcher, and to professional bodies”.

Professor Smith, who also practises at The Dermatology and Skin Cancer Centre, has been actively involved in clinical research and medical advocacy for most of his career.
