Specialists recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours List

Wedded to medicine and their faith: medical practitioner couple honoured

Married couple neurologist Cecilie Lander and retired paediatric surgeon Mervyn Lander have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

The pair met as students in Brisbane, and have both been appointed Members of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to their respective fields of medicine and to the Anglican Church.

Dr Cecilie Lander is a visiting senior neurologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in Neurology at the University of Queensland.

She has had a career-long interest in neuropharmacology and was co-founder of the Australian Pregnancy Register of Antiepileptic Drugs as well as a former vice-president of the Epilepsy Society of Australia.
