Sticking to an anti-inflammatory, Mediterranean-style diet may be even more beneficial for the mind than previously thought.
A new study of over 130,000 middle-aged people has found that this diet pattern is linked with a 24% reduced risk of dementia, adding to a large body of evidence for its neuroprotective properties.
The study, which analysed data from the UK Biobank, concluded that greater adherence to an anti-inflammatory diet rich in vegetables, fruit, whole grains, olive oil, legumes, and fish is consistently linked to a decreased risk of dementia.
