GPs play a pivotal role in managing patients with mitochondrial disease according to neurologist Dr Christina Liang.
Dr Liang, who is based at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital, encourages all general and primary care clinicians caring for patients with mitochondrial disease to follow the Australian Patient Care Standards published in 2021. These consensus-based recommendations build on previous international guidelines, with a particular emphasis on clinical management in the Australian setting.
