Older adults are falling short of their daily protein requirements, which contributes to high rates of sarcopenia, frailty, and falls, a leading nutritionist warns.

Dr Sandra Iuliano (PhD), a researcher at the University of Melbourne,  says sarcopenia is often under-recognised in clinical practice, with some experts suggesting an overhaul of current screening and assessment protocols is overdue.

In aged-care homes, inadequate dietary protein further exacerbates the problem.
