What caused this neonate’s well-demarcated erosions?

<p>Caleb, four days old, is brought in for review of two well-demarcated erosions measuring between 7mm and 10mm on the dorsal aspect of both hands (left hand pictured).</p><p>Caleb was delivered vaginally at term after an uncomplicated pregnancy and was discharged home 48 hours later.</p><p>The lesions were present at birth but are becoming more pronounced. No other areas are affected.</p><p>Caleb’s parents are concerned he’s uncomfortable as he sucks the affected areas frequently.</p><p>Caleb is fully breastfed and thriving. Examination findings are otherwise unremarkable.</p><p>Caleb’s parents and two older siblings are well, with no medical history of note.</p>
