<p>Martin, 16, presents with five days of fever and right posterior hip pain.</p><p>He fell heavily onto the buttock and sustained a graze to his shin during a basketball game two weeks ago but played on and was well until this week. </p><p>He has no history of note, takes no regular medications and denies drug or alcohol use.</p><p>He saw another GP two days ago, who requested a hip X-ray and ultrasound, which were unremarkable. On examination, temperature is 39°C, heart rate 120bpm regular and blood pressure 100/70mmHg.</p><p>Right hip range of motion is limited and abduction painful. The right gluteal region is tender but not oedematous or erythematous.</p><p>He is referred to ED, and pelvic MRI is performed (pictured).</p>
