MCAS is an increasingly recognised but frequently underdiagnosed chronic multisystem disorder characterised by episodic release of mast cell (MC) mediators, resulting in a heterogeneous constellation of non-specific symptoms without a clear unifying diagnosis.1 MCs are innate immune cells that reside in mucosal and connective tissues and participate in allergic responses, immune modulation and tissue homeostasis.2
