Treating worry and rumination

Need to know:
Worry is a common experience. At times we all worry about things that could go wrong in the future, and about situations we feel we don’t have control over or for which the outcome is uncertain.
The content of worries can range from everyday concerns (‘What if I’m late?’, ‘What if I make a mistake?’), to broader issues such as climate change, military conflict and economic uncertainty.
Rumination is similar to worry. However, rather than focusing on possible negative events that could happen in the future, rumination refers to the tendency to dwell on and ‘chew over’ events in the past; in particular, to analyse what went wrong, why events occurred, and the potential consequences.
