Cannabis potency at an all-time high

Today’s cannabis plant has a new risk profile thanks to selective breeding and intensive hydroponic cultivation that’s resulted in a vastly different plant from the one grown 20 or 30 years ago.

But the combination of an increase in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main intoxicating component in cannabis, and a decrease in cannabidiol (CBD) is proving to be a dangerous mix indeed.
