AMA expands guidelines giving more weight to doctor responsibility
The revised Position Statement on Medical Practitioners’ Relationships with Industry clarifies ethical guidelines across medical education, managing potential conflicts of interest, product samples and use of professional services to promote industry interests.
AMA President Dr Steve Hambleton said in a statement that doctors had a responsibility to ensure their interaction with industry was consistent with their patients and towards society at large.
