AMA NSW wins campaign for new union
Until now, NSW was the only state that banned another union from setting up if workers were represented by an existing body. AMA (NSW) had been calling on the state’s parliament to relax the rules so the 1600 junior doctors in the HSU could have a choice.
The legislation, which passed the Upper House last week, gives medicos an option to leave HSU in the wake of allegations former secretary Craig Thomson misused his union credit card.
“This is something AMA (NSW) has been campaigning on for a long time and our junior doctors
