Antibiotic scripts noncompliant

The findings come from the National Antimicrobial Prescribing Survey (NAPS), which includes data on 8204 subjects and 13,111 prescriptions.

It revealed that 23% of prescriptions were deemed inappropriate, of which 70% were noncompliant with guidelines – 30% due to prescribing antimicrobials that were too broad for the indication and approximately 20% due to prolonged duration.
