APNA awards celebrate pioneers
A GROUP of inspirational nurses recognised for their pioneering work in general practice have attributed their success to one factor – working as a team.
Speaking at the APNA Roadmap for the Future conference, they inspired their peers with stories of hugely improved patient care, and all shared the common trait of working in successful multidisciplinary teams.
Jessica Danko collected two awards for musculoskeletal quality care and quality improvement. Working in the only total bulk-billing clinic left in Ballarat, Jessica uses the recently published RACGP musculoskeletal guidelines to deliver total patient care, and ensures follow-up via various recall systems.
Even more remarkable, Jessica herself suffers from arthritis and underwent a total hip replacement less than a year ago.
Allison Love showed exceptional skill in chronic disease management, increasing the number of care plans in her Toowoomba practice by 400% from 2007
