Beneath the symptom iceberg

Data came from 20 practices across the UK. A total of 2474 adults completed a questionnaire about physical or psychological symptoms.

There were 1681 people who gave complete details of symptoms they had experienced in the previous two weeks. Younger people and those with a chronic illness were more likely to report having symptoms.

These symptoms resulted in 244 consultations. Patients with chronic illness, people unable to work and those with several symptoms were more likely to consult.
