Call for laws to regulate child labour

International researchers surveyed 700 child domestic workers and 700 school-attending controls in India and the Philippines.

Child workers in India were found to be worse off, even though only 12% of them lived with their employer compared to half of all child workers in the Philippines.

Less than a third of Indian child workers go to school compared to 87% of Filipinos.

And a third of India’s child domestic workers are physically punished for misdemeanours compared to 1% of Filipinos, the study found.
