CHD risk tools a poor fit for Asian-Australian women

Ethnicity should be included in cardiovascular risk assessment tools because currently-used risk score models are a poor fit for Asian Australians, researchers from WA say.

A study that assessed the tools used to calculate the 10-year predicted risk of CVD in Asian and Caucasian women in Australia found that women of Asian ethnicity generally showed a lower risk of CVD than Caucasian women.

This implied that a lower treatment threshold may be appropriate
