The analysis of 34 studies based in primary care, including 15 US studies, nine UK studies, seven from Australia, one from Canada and two from France, found death was the most commonly reported outcome, representing 15—48% of claims.
Australian GPs had the highest proportion of malpractice claims of all specialties and the highest number of new claims in the years 2009 and 2010.
GPs ranked high among other specialties for malpractice claims, representing between 7% and 16% of total claims in the US.
