Discussion needed for new drugs
The Department of Family Medicine at the University of California has therefore developed an intervention to improve communication – a one-hour education session.
Three practices participated. Half the doctors received the intervention while their colleagues acted as controls. During the study patients were surveyed before and after their visit. Eighteen of the 27 participating doctors prescribed 113 new drugs to 82 patients.
