Doctors warned off work in the UAE after court case

This follows the continuing saga of retired South African paediatric oncologist Professor Cyril Karabus, who has been held in the UAE despite being found not guilty of a charge in relation to the death of a child under his care.

As the prosecutors have appealed the court’s ruling Professor Karabus has to remain in the UAE indefinitely, the WMA said.

His treatment “fails to meet international fair trial standards and he should be allowed to return home immediately”, WMA said on its website, adding doctors should be wary of UAE posts
