Fireworks display lands revellers in hospital

On Bonfire Night last year (5 November 2011) eight patients presented to Sussex Eye Hospital with eye injuries, including two who were blinded.

The fireworks were derived from ‘rope banger deer scarers’ which are used to frighten off wildlife and were likely thrown into the crowd during the celebration, the doctors said.
