Free bus travel a boon to exercise for elderly

UK researchers performed regression analyses using annual data from a travel survey and analysed whether being a bus pass holder was linked with active travel, a more frequent use of buses and walking three times or more a week.

They found that across the cohort, those with free bus passes not only travelled four times as much, got on buses seven times as often, but were also 15% more likely to walk frequently.
