French law mandates breathalysers in cars

Car-owners without the kit will face an 11 euro fine, starting from November.

The measure introduced by former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is expected to reduce 500 alcohol deaths every year.

The French drink-driving limit is 50mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, the same as most Australian states.
