GP recognised for innovative vision
Dr Julie Thompson, who was a board member and chair of the Australian Divisions of General Practice – now the AGPN – between 2000 and 2003, took out the Individual Distinction category of the awards, which are held in partnership with the AGPN.
The award comes in recognition of Dr Thompson’s “vision of better integrated primary healthcare services”, towards which she has been working for the past 30 years through contributions to boards and committees at local, state and national levels while also working as a GP.
Dr Thompson, who hails from Warragul in Victoria’s Gippsland region, said she remained passionate about the critical role the GP plays in the health system.
