GP trainees at high risk of burnout
A French study investigated if GP trainees were also at risk. A total of 4050 trainees, average age of 26.4 years, completed the questionnaire.
The burnout score used had three components: emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and low personal accomplishment.
Burnout was more frequent in male trainees. GPs training in cities had the highest burnout scores. In Nice, 78% of trainees were working more than 50 hours each week. The city also had the most trainees with at least two high scores and 4.2% of them had attempted suicide.
