Greater transparency for doctors

Medicines Australia (MA) is considering the adoption of a European model, as an alternative to a previously suggested draft based on US legislation which would have meant listing all payments to doctors down to a $10 sandwich.

Under the new blueprint, hospitality costs below a proposed nominal cap of $120 per person would not have to be reported but all consultation fees and expenses for medical education purposes would identify the doctors involved.
