Hospital wards not spared from crackdown
Amnesty International says patients have been arrested and tortured, sometimes after needing a transfusion from the Ministry of Defence-controlled blood bank.
There were also reports of patients being maltreated by some doctors and medical staff aligned to the regime.
“Naturally, public fear and mistrust of these state-run hospitals has grown, and, as a result, wounded individuals are increasingly avoiding treatment at these supposed sanctuaries,” the Lancet reported.
