Iron and protein content safe in vegetarian diet

An Australian scientific review has debunked the commonly held belief that a vegetarian diet is likely to lack protein and iron, and that it is not suitable for pregnant women and children.

The research, published by the Medical Journal of Australia in a supplement sponsored by Sanitarium and fresh food industry bodies, concluded that a well-planned plant-based diet can meet nutritional needs.
