Law enforcement fails to dent illicit drug market

Canadian researchers examined data from three US drug monitoring systems, three international systems and the Australian Illicit Drug Reporting System. The latter showed the price of heroin and cannabis in Australia nearly halved between 2000 and 2010.

Overall, globally, illegal drug prices have decreased while drug purity and potency has increased since 1990, despite increasing drug seizures over that time, the researchers found.
