Patients struggle as GPs create more care plans than ever

MORE than a quarter of GPs believe their patients have difficulties understanding their care plans, according to surveys of almost 400 practitioners. 

The report on the surveys, published by Medical Director, a supplier of IT products to GPs, found chronic condition visits are rising 1% a year, and the average length of such consultations rose to 17 minutes last year, four minutes longer than in 2010. 

The Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH) report from the Family Medicine Research Centre released this month identified similar trends in an ageing population
