Rise in GDM diagnoses seen with new criteria

The number of women diagnosed with gestational diabetes has risen by about one third since WHO-backed criteria were adopted three years ago, a NSW review has found.

Using the criteria introduced by Wollongong Hospital the prevalence of hyperglycaemia in pregnancy (HIP) was found to be 13.1% in a study of 4809 pregnant women.
